According to Aston, Harrell and Shaw 2000, the material is more accurately described as travertine.
According to Hendrickx (1996: 68, n. 67) and Mawdsley (personal communication, 2015), since tomb 1982 is dated to Naqada IIIC2 , this object must be an heirloom.
